Alan Berman

Alan Berman founded Archetype Architecture in 2001. Since its inception, the firm has completed hundreds of projects throughout the New York metropolitan area, earning a reputation for thoughtful design, careful execution, and lasting client relationships.

Prior to establishing Archetype, Mr. Berman served as Head of Architecture for a major national retail corporation during the late 1990s and early 2000s. In this role, he led the development of prototype design standards and oversaw the management, documentation, scheduling, and construction of more than 300 retail locations across the United States. This experience established a strong foundation in design leadership, project coordination, and the successful delivery of complex projects at scale.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Berman was a Project Manager at Nadel Architects in Los Angeles, where he guided multidisciplinary teams through the design and construction of retail centers, supermarkets, and commercial developments.

Mr. Berman studied architecture at Cornell University, graduating with honors from the School of Architecture. He is a licensed architect in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Today, Mr. Berman focuses on creating thoughtful, highly tailored architectural solutions that respond to each client’s needs and the character of the space. His work emphasizes clarity, proportion, and careful attention to detail, resulting in homes and environments that are both timeless and deeply personal.
